Who would be your target audience for your media product?
To find out what target audience we should target we created a quick survey on Survey Monkey. We asked our classmates, teachers and younger year groups to fill out questionnaire. From out results we found out that not many younger kids like thrillers at all they prefer animated movies and comedy movies, whereas the teachers prefer to watch romantic comedies. We found out that teenager between the ages of 14-20 liked thriller films the most. This didn’t really make that much of a difference to us because our thriller had not disturbing/swearing or bloody scenes so there was no need to worry about age ratings. Although research shows that the most common ages for people that go to the cinema are between 16-24 which is good because our target audience has a very close age range with these figures.
Many thrillers films are rated 12, 15 or 18 this is because of the high level of violence or disturbing images that are shown in them. I am glad that we have chosen to target this age audience because we are all in this age gap so we know what people this age might like, so we would know what to put into the film and we would be able to advertise it much better. Because our sequence has very little violence it might be rated a PG which may open the doors to an even bigger audience which is great.
How did you attract /address your audience?
We attracted our audience by using stereotypical characters that seem to relate to our audience, there are two groups in our sequence Popular and bullied, a lot of teenagers from around the world can relate to both of these categories so we thought this was a great idea. Our film attracts people because it is not too unrealistic so our target audience won’t think that is some kind of kid’s film. We included many really big and open establishing shot so this might attract our target audience because there are many different possibilities of what could happen.
To organise when we were going to go out and film we made a group chat on Facebook.
i thought this was a really good idea as it enabled us to communicate with one another to let each other know if one of us couldn't make it or if our plans had changed.
After the film made sense and the transitions were in it was time to put some text in. We weren't allowed to use the text that was already on imovie so we had to download one off the internet. Once we did everything else we then had to import the music over our sequence first of all we needed to chose the correct one that would suit our film and also one that we all agreed on. We listened to many different soundtracks but came to an agreement after a group discussion. Our teacher also helped us to chose a music track that then fitted our sequence and then one of class mates helped us to put this track over the footage, this then and taught us so we are able to do it in the future.
