Research into opening titles
I have been carrying out research into titles of films to give me a good knowledge and to help me decide what kind of titles i would like to use for my own opening sequence to a thriller which we will have to decide soon.
First of all i decided to look at "The silence of the lambs" titles.
The title for this film is in a very simple font.
I think the only the thing effective about these titles would be the colour.
The orange on the edge of red titles reminds me of danger and gives me the feeling
that this could be a thriller. This provides inspiration for the title of my film and due to this I will
consider using the colour red for the titles.
The title is in in white. This works with the black background as it stands out due to the contrast between the colours.
The writing is basic and resembles match sticks or other such materials. This reflects the moive as they are in a prison and dont have much to make things out of. It also reflects the monotonous, simple lives of the men in the prison.
and I can immediately identify this from the font. The title used are very
effective and the style of writing used reflects the genre of film immediately. The colour is very effective as it is a blood red colour.
This gave me some ideas for my very own thriller opening.

You need to create a new post analysing how title are used in film openings - use moving image. How do the titles appear? What titles are used? when do they appear? etc
